SECOND ELEVEN: Two wins for Sussex over Hong Kong

Tymal Mills claimed 4 for 23 in the first match of the day at Arundel

Sussex’s Second Eleven pulled off two impressive victories yesterday at Arundel Castle, beating the Hong Kong International side in two T20 matches.

After winning the toss and electing to bat in the first game of the day, Sussex made 194 for 4 from their 20 overs, aided by some clean striking of the ball from Will Beer, who scored 85 from 50 balls.

He was supported well by his opening partner Michael Yardy with 50 from 39 balls and Harry Finch chipped in with an unbeaten 28.

In reply, Hong Kong fell 16 runs short of their target as Tymal Mills (4 for 23) was the star with the ball. He was ably assisted by Fynn Hudson-Prentice (3 for 33) and Steffan Piolet (1 for 32).

In the second match of the day, Hong Kong won the toss and after choosing to bat first, made 144 for 7. James Allen was the pick of the bowlers for Sussex, taking 3 for 35 whilst Hudson-Prentice claimed two run outs and a wicket.

And Sussex reached their target with five balls to spare for the loss of six wickets. Callum Jackson’s 54 from 42 balls and Phil Salt (27 not out) were the main contributions.

The Second Eleven are back in action on Monday when they face Hampshire in the Second Eleven Trophy at the Ageas Bowl (11.00am).
