SHARKS ABROAD: Rippon makes Netherlands debut15-Apr-2013
Sussex spinner Michael Rippon made his debut for the Netherlands last week in the ICC Intercontinental Cup and despite defeat he impressed in the four-day match with Namibia in Windhoek.
The South African-born star qualifies for the County through his Dutch passport hence his appearance for the Netherlands and opened the batting in their first innings, following a twenty-over bowling stint in Namibia’s first effort at the crease.
He made a patient 65 as he put on over 100 with Australian-born Tom Cooper however the Netherlands could only better the hosts’ first innings total by 17 which proved to be crucial later on in the game, as Namibia comfortably won the match by 82 runs.
