STATEMENT FOLLOWING INCIDENT DURING ENGLAND WOMEN’S ODI29-Aug-2013
The recent England v Australia Women’s One-Day International match, held at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground on Sunday 25th August, was briefly interrupted when 2 naked males took it upon themselves to invade the pitch for a short period of time. A joint effort between Sussex Police and Sussex CCC resulted in the swift apprehension, arrest and subsequent fining of both the individuals involved.
PC Darren Balkham the Sussex Cricket Liaison officer said – “Whilst these two males may have thought it funny to interrupt an international Cricket match with a predominantly female audience, quite rightly the cricket club informed us of the incident and both males have been fined for a few moments of madness."
In addition – Sussex County Cricket Club have imposed a ban on the individuals from attending any event within the Clubs ground.
Ian Waring – Sussex CCC Operations & Facilities Manager – commented “Sussex CCC pride itself on being a family friendly club at the heart of the local community and as such will always take a strong stance on this type of behaviour.
