STUMPS & HIGHLIGHTS: Rain a pain again for Sussex13-May-2014
Sussex were once again restricted by the weather in their attempts to force victory against Durham as rain ruined most of Day Three at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, Hove.
The hosts declared overnight on 505 for 9 and Sussex struck in the second over of the day as Jimmy Anyon induced Mark Stoneman to nick behind to Ben Brown for only a single.
Fellow opener Keaton Jennings was the second wicket to fall as there was a mix-up with the batsmen and Luke Wright’s throw ensured he was run out.
Play was then on and off throughout the day as Scott Borthwick (84 not out) put on 103 with Sri Lankan star Kumar Sangakkara (30 not out) to help Durham through to 137 for 2.
Heavy showers in the afternoon saw play eventually abandoned for the day at 5.30pm and with only one day left in the match, Sussex will still require 18 wickets to win the match although there does look to be an improved forecast tomorrow.Sussex 505 for 9 declared, Durham 137 for 2
