AND STUMPS AT HOVE: Sharks beaten by the Eagles at Hove21-Jul-2013
Sussex Sharks were comfortably beaten by Essex Eagles today in the Friends Life t20 infront of a bumper Sunday afternoon crowd at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, Hove.
Having won the toss and elected to bat, Sussex amassed 146 for 8 from their 20 overs as Rory Hamilton-Brown top-scored with 31, whilst Dwayne Smith (25), Scott Styris (22) and Chris Nash (22) all got starts but failed to capitalise.
Essex were in ruthless mood from the off and New Zealand International Hamish Rutherford was the star of the show as has smashed 84 from only 43 balls before he was tempted down the track by Will Beer and stumped by Callum Jackson (pictured), making his t20 debut for the Sharks.
The pair had already accounted for the dangerous Greg Smith (42) through the same dismissal and Ravi Bopara (7) became Jackson’s third stumping on debut as he was snared by Michael Yardy.
But the damage had already been done in the early overs and the Eagles raced to victory with three overs to spare.
