STUMPS: Sharks bite back to end Notts 100% record21-Jun-2013
An inexperienced Sussex side ended Nottinghamshire’s 100% record in the Yorkshire Bank 40 with an impressive victory at Trent Bridge.
Sussex rested a number of key players with their chances of progressing in the competition almost non-existent but still managed to triumph by 50 runs.
Mike Yardy and Chris Jordan were both left out with Matthew Hobden making his debut the day after signing his first pro deal at Sussex and Andrew Miller making only his second one-day appearance for the club.
Matt Machan (pictured), who was named Man of the Match by the Sky Cricket commentators, and Ed Joyce were the mainstays of Sussex’s innings but a total of 223 for 9 did not seem sufficient against a powerful looking Notts batting line-up.
