HIGHLIGHTS & STUMPS: Sussex beaten by Durham05-Sep-2013
Sussex have been beaten by the heavy margin of 285 runs today as Durham moved top of the LV=County Championship Division One table at the Emirates ICG.
After eventually declaring on 268 for 8, James Anyon was once again the star of the show with the ball for Sussex taking 4 for 79 from his 20.4 overs. That took the paceman’s tally to eight wickets in the match, whilst Steve Magoffin (2), Lewis Hatchett (1) and Chris Nash (1) also chipped in with wickets in the second innings.
That set Sussex a mammoth target of 402 to win this match or about a day and a half to bat out for the draw, but the visitors were dismissed for 116 as the North-East side ran riot with the ball. Nash (pictured today) was the mainstay of the top-order with 38 whilst Michael Yardy (25) and Magoffin (20) also contributed but none of the other Sussex batsmen were able to make double-figures.
