STUMPS: Sussex take upper hand as Prior hits first century of 2014

Matt Prior struck a fantastic 125 as Sussex took the upper hand against Middlesex on Day Three of this LV=County Championship encounter at The County Ground.

After losing a whole day’s play yesterday, Sussex resumed on 86 for 3 at Hove and piled up 386 to move 281 runs ahead of their visitors. Prior hit 19 fours and one six in his century before he was eventually caught well by James Harris in the deep, as he became one of six Steven Finn wickets.

James Anyon hit a half-century lower down the order whilst Ben Brown (44) and Jon Lewis (35) were also key contributors as Sussex moved into the box seat.

After Steve Magoffin struck early in Middlesex’s second innings to remove England hopeful Sam Robson, the visitors finished the day on 57 for 1 trailing their hosts by 224 runs.
