SUSSEX CRICKET LEAGUE: David Bowden elected President

David Bowden has been elected President of the Sussex Cricket League, the senior league in the County.

David has been associated with the League since 1973 when he first arrived in Sussex. He played in the Premier Division for Preston Nomads CC until 1991, when he hung up his boots.

Between 2002 and 2008, David was Chairman of the Club during which period Preston Nomads managed very efficiently the legacy left by its former founder and President, Spen Cama.

David served as the Club’s delegate on the League’s Council for many years and for the past 10 years he has been a member of its Executive Committee.

He has other roles in Sussex Cricket, amongst which are as a SCCC Board Director, Chairman of the Sussex Cricket in the Community Trust charity’ Management Committee, and Chairman of the Brighton & Hove City Cricket Development Group, which manages the highly successful Chance to Shine coaching programme in State primary schools.

Outside of the cricket world, David is Chairman of the Sussex Air Ambulance Board.

David stated that, “I am highly honoured by this appointment and feel privileged to be able to serve a thriving and highly respected organisation within the Sussex Cricket family”.

The cup was presented by Spen Cama (left), who was the League President at the time, in the presence of Alan Perkins, its Chairman, who subsequently succeeded Mr.Cama as the President, until his death in late 2012.
