WELLS: Batting for Charity

Sussex's Luke Wells has joined a host of high profile cricketers in a new charity initiative ‘Batting for Charity’, organised by County Championship sponsors LV=.
The initiative will see Wells display an LV= sticker on each of his bats for the remainder of the cricket season and in return, LV= will donate £250 to Mind, the mental health charity, as nominated by Wells.
The money donated will go directly to Mind, a charity the Sussex batsman has been a supporter of for a number of years. The charity provides advice and support for those suffering a mental illness, to help them understand their condition and the options open to them. Mind also campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental illness.
Matthew Taylor, spokesperson for Mind, commented: "We are very grateful for the donation from LV= and will make a real difference to the work that Mind does to support anyone experiencing a mental health problem. To have Luke championing our cause on the cricket field is just brilliant and everyone involved with Mind will be cheering Luke on for the rest of the season."
Luke Wells added: “I am very pleased to be able to support Mind this season. It is an incredibly worthy cause; the support and help the charity offers people is second to none, so if my donation can contribute to the work they perform it’s the least I can do.”
Wells joins a host of LV= County Championship cricketers, such as Surrey’s Mark Ramprakash and Gloucestershire’s Jonathan Batty, taking part in LV=’s charity initiative.
