WINTER: Pro Coaching for local school

Cricketing students at Handcross Park School in Haywards Heath were given a boost recently when Sussex batsman Luke Wells visited the West Sussex School to pass on some tips and coach aspiring youngsters.

Handcross Park currently have nine players in the Sussex Junior Age Group teams and in recent years have built up their commitment to cricket with a new academy.

Wells, pictured coaching above, and a former Sussex Age Group player himself who has progressed through the ranks with the County, has made a big impact in Sussex's 1st XI over the past couple of seasons. Since the coaching session he has jetted to Australia to continue his winter preparations by playing club cricket.

Matt Green, in charge of cricket at Handcross Park, said, "Cricket at the School has gone from strength to strength. We now run an academy all year round which covers all aspects of the game, from technique to fitness.

"Having a player and coach of Luke's ability work with our young players is an excellent opportunity and gives the youngsters in the academy something to aspire to, especially with a number of the boys involved in Sussex's Age Group setup".

Handcross have an open morning on Tuesday 27th November. For more information please email: Ms Tavener
