WINTER: Hatch signs off from Oz01-Mar-2012
Sussex's left-arm seamer Lewis Hatchett has spent the winter in Australia furthering his development and written his final blog before returning to Hove.
01st March 2012
The past few weeks over here have gone by very quickly. I’ve played my last three games for Southern Districts with all three games ending in defeat, a very disappointing end to our challenge to make finals this year. However, the guys over here definitely have a bright future ahead of them with our team being the youngest in the competition, but I feel one of the most talented!
I myself have finished well for the season having taken 28 wickets at an average of 14 in my 8 games (6th in the competition). Along with my first six-wicket haul for the club in my last game, which gets me on the honours board! (They won’t like an Englishman on there!)
I'm now very much looking forward to getting back to England (not for the weather) and joining up with the team to start preparations for the season, and start pushing for my place in the first team.
It has been a good season out here for me as I feel I have once again learnt more about my game and matured as a player. Although the team didn’t do as well as we would have hoped, we had some great games that we played in and I learnt a lot from those experiences.
