WINTER: Jackson to play Grade Cricket down under04-Oct-2013
Sussex's Callum Jackson has completed a deal to become a Pro with an A Grade club in Australia for this winter.
Jackson, who made his debut in all three formats of the game for Sussex in the 2013 season, leaves for Sydney on the 14th of this month and will be playing for Charlestown District CC in Newcastle NSW, just North of Sydney.
Playing as their first choice keeper and batting in the top 5, he will also be training with New South Wales keeping coach Kerry Thompson.
Chris Oliver, President of Charlestown Cricket Club said, “We're very excited to have Callum joining Charlestown DCC, ‘The Magpies’, this season which incorporates our 50th Anniversary celebrations and hopefully a successful year on the field. Callum's arrival will complete our recruitment for the year, which also includes Dilan Sandigirigoda, who played 1st Class Cricket in Sri Lanka last season."
Charlestown play in the Newcastle District Cricket Association competition (details HERE) which is First Grade cricket cricket in Australia. For the first time this season Newcastle will be entering a team in the Sydney grade 20/20 competition and Callum will be eligible for selection in that side.
