WINTER: Joyce leads Ireland to famous win

Sussex skipper Ed Joyce steered Ireland to a famous victory over the West Indies in the first T20 International at Sabina Park, Jamaica lastnight.

Joyce scored an unbeaten 40 from 49 balls, putting on a stand of 58 with Andrew Poynter for the fourth wicket, as the Irish won a low-scoring affair by six wickets with five balls to spare, as they knocked off the hosts’ total of 116 for 8.

He was named Man of the Match for his efforts and the Irish will be looking to repeat the feat tomorrow when they play the second of the two T20 Internationals.
