Holly Colvin took two wickets for England Women today as they beat South Africa in a warm up match for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup.
Captain Charlotte Edwards opened the batting and led by example (78) as England finished on 270 for 9 from their 50 overs. Colvin was instrumental in the win as she took two wickets for just 29 runs from her 10 overs, including the crucial wicket of South African opener Trisha Chetty (57). South Africa ended the innings on 219 for 6 handing England a 51 run win.
Sussex’s Callum Jackson and Harry Finch are currently part of the England U19 side touring South Africa and have helped put their side is a dominating position, in their 1st Youth Test at Newlands. England batted first with Jackson being dismissed for 43, whilst Ed Barnard top scored with 114 as England were all out for 313 in the four-day match. Finch took two wickets for 35 runs from his 10 overs as well as taking two catches to help England bowl out South Africa for 194.
At the end of day two, England are 24 without loss, a lead of 143 runs with 10 wickets remaining.
