WINTER WATCH: Jordan & Wiese drafted for South African T20 tournament


Sussex’s Chris Jordan and David Wiese have been drafted to play in South Africa’s forthcoming T20 Global League.

Jordan was a second round pick for the Bloem City Blazers, the team based in Bloemfontein in the centre of the country.

Reacting on Twitter, Jordan said: “Really pleased to be joining @CityBloem looking forward to the experience”.

Jordan will join up at Bloem City Blazers with fellow internationals David Miller and Kieron Pollard, as well as former Sussex overseas player, Dwayne Smith. 

Wiese was drafted by Benoni Zalmi in the sixth round. Benoni – a city just to the east of Johannesburg – is where Wiese started his professional cricket career playing for Easterns.

He will play alongside players such as Quinton de Kock, Jason Roy and Wahab Riaz. 

The inaugural T20 Global League runs from 3rd November – 16th December and is made up of eight franchises based in Benoni, Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria & Paarl.
