WINTER WATCH: Sussex's pace aces on song in opening Pakistan Super League matches

The Pakistan Super League is underway in Dubai and Sussex paceman Tymal Mills has been helping Quetta Gladiators to win both of their opening matches in the tournament.

He took 1 for 31 from four overs in the Gladiators’ opening win over the Lahore Qalandars before claiming fine figures of 2 for 21 in Saturday’s victory against the Karachi Kings.

Sussex skipper Luke Wright is also part of the Quetta squad and will be hoping to feature on Wednesday when they meet Islamabad United.

Chris Jordan has played all three matches for the Peshawar Zalmi so far, and they currently top the table having won two games and lost one. He smashed an unbeaten 16 from 10 balls in the opening match of the tournament against Islamabad, and took 1 for 30 despite falling to defeat, but Peshawar hit back with victory over Karachi on Friday, with Jordan claiming 1 for 21.

On Saturday, they bowled out Lahore for only 59 as Jordan starred with an impressive haul of 2 for 8, but the chase wasn’t straightforward as they lost seven wickets in the chase, with the Sussex all-rounder seeing them over the line with the bat along with Wahab Riaz.

Stiaan van Zyl is currently in sumptuous form in South Africa and has now hit three centuries in his last three first-class innings. The match against Dolphins, which began on Thursday in Durban, saw his Cape Cobras side draw, with van Zyl hitting 108 in the first innings and an unbeaten 101 in the second.

Delray Rawlins has reached another milestone this week, as he was selected for the England Under-19’s Youth Test against India in Nagpur. Rawlins though wasn’t called into action on the opening day (Monday) after a fine day with the bat for England. The tourists ended the day on 311 for 1, with centuries from Max Holden (135) and George Bartlett (132).
