Phil Salt was amongst the runs in the First Grade in Sydney this weekend, as his St George side defeated Sutherland by four wickets in a 50-over match on Saturday.

Salt made 69 from 96 balls, including 9 fours, as he thwarted a bowling attack that included Ben Dwarshius of the Sydney Sixers.

Delray Rawlins continued his magnificent winter with the England Under-19’s as he struck a century on the opening day of their Youth Test with India in Nagpur.

After coming to the crease with England in trouble at 1 for 2, young all-rounder Rawlins finished Day One unbeaten on 124, including 16 fours and two sixes, to help his team to 243 for 5.

Danny Briggs increased his haul of wickets for the winter season to 33, as he claimed figures of 2 for 58 from 32 overs in Melbourne-based Marcellin Old Collegians’ defeat to Hawthorn, in the Eastern Cricket Association Wright Shield. Briggs’ bowling average across the winter is only 13.00 at a miserly economy rate of 2.48.

Attention in South Africa this weekend turned to the Momentum One-Day Cup 50-over competition. Stiaan van Zyl was in action for the Cape Cobras and made 35 in their 100-run defeat to Knights, whilst David Wiese took 1 for 58 from 9 overs, and pouched two catches for the Titans, but his side were edged out in a thrilling contest with Dolphins with three balls remaining.

The Pakistan Super League is back on the agenda towards the end of the week. Tymal Mills and Luke Wright will both be hoping to feature when the Quetta Gladiators take on Karachi Kings on Thursday, and Islamabad United on Friday, whilst Chris Jordan’s Peshawar Zalmi face Lahore Qalandars on Friday and the Gladiators on Saturday, with the potential of an all-Sussex head-to-head clash.

Ross Taylor will be hoping to help New Zealand get back on track in the 2nd ODI with South Africa, which takes place tonight (Tuesday, 10pm GMT). After defeat in Hamilton on Sunday, with only one ball remaining, the Kiwis meet the Proteas in Christchurch overnight tonight.
