WOMEN: Sussex players picked for England Women's Senior Academy

Three Sussex players have been selected for the England Women’s Senior Academy (EWSA) that is designed to ensure players are equipped to perform for England on the international stage.

As part of the EWSA, Ellen Burt, Freya Davies and Linsey Smith will attend a series of camps over the winter and play a number of competitive matches next summer with the aim of helping them become more effective performers.

A right-arm seamer, 19-year-old Burt made her debut for Sussex Women in 2013 and is a member of the Southern Vipers Kia Super League (KSL) squad.

Fellow right-arm quick, Davies has played for Sussex Women since 2010. The 21-year-old was part of the Western Storm side that secured this year’s KSL title at The 1st Central County Ground.

All-rounder, Smith joined Sussex from Berkshire ahead of the 2017 season. The 22-year-old left-arm spiner and top order batsman is also a regular in the Souther Vipers side.
