WOMENS: Brighton College Under 15's Girls heading to Lord's09-May-2013
Brighton College Girls Under 15's squad won the Lady Taverners National final last year at Lord’s and have again reached the final at HQ after winning the County and Regional finals.
They have been unbeaten in the indoor competition all season and having won the Sussex final they went into the regional final, which was held at St. Bede’s Prep School, where they faced schools from Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey, Essex, Suffolk and Bedfordshire.
In the regional final they came top of their group and reached the semi-final where they played Highworth School from Kent, scoring 95 for 3 and restricting Highworth to 61 for 7.
They went on to meet Shenfield High School from Essex in the final, batting first and being bowled out for 72 in the 7th over. However, the College bowled and fielded tightly and took five early wickets and kept Shenfield down to 56 for 7 and winning by 16 runs to be crowned regional champions.
Brighton College head to Lord's today (Thursday 9th May) where they will face winners from other regions such as schools from Somerset, Yorkshire, the Midlands, Cumbria etc and if they win they will be the first school to win the competition two years in a row.
