WOMEN'S: Eight Sussex Players Selected for under 19 England Women’s Development Programme21-Aug-2012
This week see’s the start of the under 19 England Women’s development programme (formally the junior super 4s) held at Wellington College.
39 players from around the Country have been selected for the EWDP U19s, with 8 players coming from Sussex, Georgia Adams, Izzy Collis, Chiara Green, Izi Noakes, Sophie Parnell, Hannah Phelps, Carla Rudd and Paige Scholfield. Freya Davies has also been selected as a bowling reserve.
The players have been put into three teams this year and a boys team will also join the week, where they will play two 50 over matches on Tuesday and Wednesday and two T20 matches on Friday.
The EWDP U19 gives the chance for selectors to look at the best players around the County for selection to the England Academy as well as the under 19 winter programme. Also this year a squad will be selected to take on Pakistan in a friendly in September.Sussex WCA Director of Cricket, Charlotte Burton said, “Once again we have a strong pool of players selected for the EWDP U19s, which is a great achievement, not just for the players but also for Sussex. The girls will look to impress this week and all are determined to be selected in the squad for next month’s match against Pakistan.”
