England and Sussex star Sarah Taylor has become the first women’s cricketer to be inducted into ‘Legends Lane’ at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, Hove.

The former Brighton College student is currently playing for England against Australia in the Women’s Ashes, and is set to be in action on Friday 28th August at Hove when the two fierce rivals face each other in a NatWest Women’s T20 International.

Legends Lane celebrates some of the great players to have worn the Sussex shirt over the years. The Lane is currently graced by banners bearing images of such legends as Tony Greig, CB Fry, Matt Prior, John Snow and Mushtaq Ahmed to name but a few.

Sarah started her career at Sussex County Cricket Club in 2004 and made her debut for England in 2006. She was the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2014 and the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year in 2012 and 2013.

Taylor said, “I feel really honoured to take my place in Legends Lane alongside cricketing heroes at Sussex such as Luke Wright, Imran Khan and Ted Dexter.

“The women’s game has been transformed since I first joined Sussex in 2004. I’m only 26 so I am looking forward to continuing my career at the highest level for many years to come.”

Graham Marley, Chief Executive of the Let’s Do Business Group, the sponsors of Sarah’s new mural, said, “Sarah is one of the greatest women cricketers of all time. I am delighted that the Let’s Do Business Group is sponsoring her well-deserved and most timely induction to Legends Lane. I am looking forward to seeing her in action later this week at Hove and hopefully cheering England on to victory.”

Tickets are just £1 for children and £5 for adults to see Sarah and the rest of the England team take on Australia on August 28 at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, please click HERE

The official unveiling will take place on Thursday when England train at the ground.
