WOMENS: Sussex to start season with double-header

After their first match was cancelled due to the poor weather a couple of weeks ago against Berkshire, the Sussex Women will finally get their County Championship campaign underway this weekend with a Bank Holiday double-header.

On Sunday they will face Warwickshire at Wellesbourne Cricket Club, near Stratford Upon Avon, and then on Monday they will be back at The County Ground, Hove where they will take on Surrey.

Sussex have not played Warwickshire in the County Championship before as they were the side promoted last season, but they are aware they have some very strong players, including England wicket-keeper, Amy Jones.

Sussex will have a full side out with Holly Colvin making her debut as captain and will hope to lead the side to two victories this weekend and start the season how they mean to go on throughout.

Sussex 's Coach and Director of Cricket Charlotte Burton said, “This weekend is going to be vitally important with two matches, as we want to start the season off well. The team are ready to start playing now and have been training hard over the winter to come back fighting to try and claim the County Championship this season.

"We are also really looking forward to playing at Hove on Monday as we always enjoy playing there and we hope to put in a good performance for the crowd.”

Both matches start at 11.00am and entry into The County Ground on Monday will be FREE

Don't forget that the GREENE KING BEER FESTIVAL will still be running on Bank Holiday Monday for this match...!
