WRIGHT: Old Forge Player of the Month for July

Luke Wright is the recipient of Sussex’s Old Forge Restaurant Player of the Month Award for July.

The all-rounder enjoyed a fantastic month as he hit three centuries across two separate competitions, smashing the domestic T20 record in the process with an unbeaten 153 against Essex Eagles at Chelmsford.

He had also hit a NatWest T20 Blast century a week previous against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl which had followed his magnificent 158 against Northamptonshire in the longer form of the game as Sussex won their LV=County Championship match inside three days.

He is seen here receiving his award from former Sussex batsman and current Business Relationship Manager Tony Cottey at Hove during Friday’s Royal London One-Day Cup match with Middlesex. It is a gong that began way back in 1991 and former Sussex wicketkeeper Martin Speight was the first player to receive the award.

The recipient of the award is chosen each month by Adrian Harms of BBC Sussex, who sees nearly every ball of Sussex’s campaign thanks to their live commentary.

Luke wins a meal for two at the Old Forge Restaurant in Storrington for his efforts.
