New Chief Executive sought for Sussex County Cricket Club

29th September 2008

SCCC Press Release

Sussex County Cricket Club has today started its search for a new Chief Executive to replace Gus Mackay. Details of the role and the person specification are available on the Sussex CCC website (www.sussexcricket.co.uk).

Jim May, Sussex CCC Chairman, said: “This new appointment is a pivotal one, as we seek to continue the success of cricket at Sussex. The role encompasses the recreational game as well as professional cricket, as we are committed to Building Partnerships with the whole Sussex Cricket family.

“Sussex has enjoyed unprecedented playing success over the last five years and our intention is to continue to progress based on a core of home grown English qualified players.

“The new Chief Executive has a major challenge and a major opportunity to drive the commercial side of the business and to redevelop the County Ground. This is aimed at underpinning cricket in a sustainable fashion.

“We hope to have the new Chief Executive, Sussex Cricket, in place by 1 January 2009. We have already had many expressions of interest in the role and I am confident that we will appoint from a strong field.

“Gus leaves to take up his new appointment as Managing Director of Cricket at Surrey CCC on 1 October with our thanks and best wishes. In the meantime the daily management of the County Club will be the responsibility of the Executive Team, who have all stepped up to the plate.”
