Chris Liddle's first blog from PE
Whilst a few of the playing staff are out in Port Elizabeth with Mark Davis on a training academy, sussexcricket.co.uk will keep you updated with blogs from the players.
Yesterday, Chris Liddle made the first entry in the PE Academy blog and here’s what he wrote:
Day three started with what we thought was a hurricane going on outside our villa, but when I asked a local at the hotel, we were surprised to find out that it was normal for the wind to blow this strong!
We then prepared for our first middle practice after we had finished our rehab in the college pool, which consisted of a vigorous workout, but it felt great to get in to the swing of things. I think most of the lads were praying that we were going to bowl down wind.
Will Peatfield, who has joined us out here from Guernsey, looked like a crab out of water and was hoping he wouldn’t get hit on his very sun burnt legs.
Thankfully we did get to bowl down wind and Will did get hit from an inside edge onto his inner thigh from a bowling machine delivery from Grubby. Grubby claims his first victim of tour!!
We then had a sprint fitness session around the athletics track at the college which pretty much finished all our legs off for the day. I was happy that I coped well with an intense day of training after the disappointment of being out of action all of last year due to injury.
We all looked forward to a good healthy meal after the day’s training. The day was finished by a less intense recovery pool and gym session for the boys and we were all rewarded at the end of the day with a tub of protein sent over by Westy (our strength and conditioning coach) - cheers Westy from the MD Academy!
