Crowd needed to set UK record at Hove
The Argus offer free tickets for Sunday's match
In conjunction with Friends Provident, Sussex County Cricket Club will attempt to set a new UK record during their game with the Surrey Brown Caps on Sunday 10 May at Hove.
During the interval, at approximately 3pm, a number of the Sussex development team will come onto the field and organise the largest ever coaching session in the UK when they help over 2034 people complete a mass participation drill.
With age categories covering the Under 10’s, Under 15’s, Under 30’s and ‘golden oldies’ (or over 30’s) everyone is welcome to attend and take part.
The Argus newspaper is also running a promotion on Friday and Saturday that will give readers free entry to the County Ground, Hove on Sunday.
Mike Yardy, Sussex CCC Captain, said: “First and foremost it should be great fun for everyone that fancies having a go. I hope as many people as possible come to the ground to help us ensure we make history!”
All those taking part will be involved in throwing and catching and will also receive a Friends Provident hat. The event will also be filmed and posted on the Sussex web site.
Yardy added: “We will have official adjudicators on duty counting participants and Sid the Shark, our famous club mascot, will be lending a helping fin!”
