Sussex are on the verge of a place in the knockout stages of the Twenty20 Cup after easing to a six-wicket win over Surrey Brown Caps at Hove tonight.
The Sharks dismissed Surrey for 123 off the final ball of their innings and reached their target with 19 balls to spare in front of a crowd of 5,500.
Robin Martin-Jenkins took 3-17 to rip through Surrey's top order and Sussex's spinners shared five wickets before James Kirtley polished things off with two in the last over.
Sussex got their reply off to a solid start as Murray Goodwin (38) and Luke Wright (31) put on 71 in ten overs.
Although both they, Matt Prior (11) and Rory Hamilton-Brown (6) departed in quick succession, Dwayne Smith steered Sussex to victory with an undefeated 22.
Earlier, the Surrey innings had been held up for 25 minutes because of problems with the floodlights at the sea end.
