Howzat! moving forward
On Friday 6th March, The Howzat! Centre at the County Ground welcomed visitors from the Department for Children Schools and Families. Sue Hackman (Head of Standards) and Richard Page (Contract Manager) visited the site along with Rex Hall (Head of Playing for Success) with representatives from the Children and Young People’s Trust and Albion in the Community.
Sarah Miller (Howzat! Centre Manager) explained how children are involved in inter-active learning outside of a school setting and how this engages children in a different way. The Howzat! Centre has an outstanding attendance record and has been embraced by children, teachers and schools alike.
More now than ever Sussex CCC is actively involved with Howzat! staff to ensure that kids are given the best possible experience when visiting the County Ground.
Tim Marks (Community and Marketing Executive at Sussex CCC) commented: “It’s great to have Playing For Success resident in the Howzat! Centre here at Sussex. Cricket and sport in general can engage and offer opportunities to youngsters like no other medium. It’s so important that we use what we have at the club in terms of resources and staff to help young people in any way we can. It is them who are the future players, coaches, volunteers and fans of Sussex Cricket.”
