Kirtley signs contract extension
Sussex CCC is pleased to announce that James Kirtley has signed a one-year contract which will keep him at Hove for the 2010 season.
Kirtley, who is 35 next week, embarks upon his 16th season on the playing staff having played a pivotal part in Sussex’s one-day success last season. The Sharks won both the Twenty20 Cup and the NatWest Pro40, whilst finishing runners-up in the Friend Provident Trophy – a run of success which helped Kirtley end the season as the second highest wicket taker in one day cricket in the Country with 44 wickets.
The right-arm fast-medium has played 249 one-day matches in his career, as well as making 54 Twenty20 appearances. With an average of 23.33 in one-day cricket and 24.52 in Twenty20s, Kirtley’s skill and experience will be crucial as the Sharks look to defend their two one-day titles in 2010.
James Kirtley said: “I’m looking forward to playing in my sixteenth season at the Club. During my time with Sussex I’ve been lucky enough to have played in a hugely successful team and I’m looking forward to fighting hard to bring more silverware to Hove.”
