Machan reports from Port Elizabeth
Matt Machan write the next blog for sussexcricket.co.uk from the PE Academy.
Our day started with a 9am pool recovery session after a fairly heavy day the day before. This involved in a few stretches and a couple of lengths of the pool before we headed down to nets for a session. As it rained heavily over night, the nets were out of use, but luckily the middle was okay as it had been covered up thankfully.
Myself and Dexter had a middle practice against bowlers and then we moved on to machine work with all the others. This was a combination of a few things. Firstly, myself and Rags faced the machine which was firing out short pitched deliveries at 90mph and Rags’ ribs soon found out the pace as he didn’t pick up his first ball and it hit him in his chest guard. HaHa!!
We then moved on to death hitting in which my batting partner Jordan Rollings and myself won hitting 54 from 18 balls. (5 sixes in 6 deliveries for myself!!)
After that we moved on to a gym session for core stability and a few light weights and then on to a technical running session on the track for thirty minutes.
