Sussex Second XI lost to Hampshire in the Second XI Trophy yesterday at The Rose Bowl.
Sussex won the toss and elected to bat, but were bowled out for just 183. Mike Thornely was the top scorer and four of the batsman scored between 23 and 25.
Ex-Sussex medium pacer, Billy Taylor, was the pick of the Hampshire bowlers in taking 3 for 27.
The home side eased to their total and only lost three wickets in doing so. Benny Howle made an unbeaten 85 and Liam Dawson scored 66.
The second team’s attention now turns to the Second XI Championship where they’ll be playing at the same venue against the same opposition for the next three days.
