Sussex's 'darling' passes away
Ruby Hedger, the much loved and respected scorecard seller, passes away
It is with much sadness that Sussex County Cricket Club have to announce that Ruby Hedger, the much loved and respected scorecard seller at Hove for many years passed away last Friday.
Ruby has been a loyal member of the Sussex team for over 20 years, first as the cook for the players (her boys) and for the past 12 years as being the ‘front of house’ to visitors to the ground on match days. There was always a warm ’hello darling’ for all staff, players and friends as they entered the ground and the same welcome was afforded to all spectators when purchasing their scorecard or programme.
Hove will not be the same again without that warm and genuine welcome.
For details of funeral arrangements please contact a steward at the ground.
There was a great article on Ruby a couple of years ago in All Out Cricket. You can view it here >>>

My trips to hove will not be the same again. I love having the friendly greeting by Ruby. The Phrase "scorecards a pound" Or "Enjoy the game darling" will be missed. R.I.P Ruby x
