Sussex 2nd XI and Academy beat Guernsey

Sussex 2nd XI and Academy travelled to Geurnsey last weekend to play two matches as preparation for the island’s forthcoming ICC World Cricket League campaign in May.

On the first day, Sussex won the toss and batted, scoring 211 for 8 from their 50 overs, with Matt Machan (39) and Devon Endersby (37*) top scoring for Sussex. Frith was amongst the wickets for Guernsey taking 3 for 30.

Sussex bowled with great discipline and kept the hosts down to 164 for 8 from their 50 overs. Tom Smith took 4 for 29 and Le Prevost scored 54.

The second game saw 18 wickets fall for just 181 runs. Guernsey were bowled out for 90, with Tom Smith taking 3 for 10, Darryl Rebbets 2 for 8 and Lewis Hatchett 2 for 13. The top score for the islanders was 26 from Meades.

The Sussex side were cruising at 40 for 0, but the introduction of the spinners saw Sussex lose eight wickets before creeping past the total. Machan again top scored with 31 and the two spinners, Bisson (4 for 13) and Frith (3 for 17), took the wickets.
