Sussex CCC Community Initiative goes from strength to strength
Sussex CCC Community Initiative goes from strength to strength with the extension of Sports Unlimited Funding from the County Sports Partnership. Due to the unprecedented success of Street20 Cricket, the County Sports Partnership has nominated the project as a national showcase, with participation retention rates at 97%.
Since September 2008 over 130 young people in Brighton and Hove alone, who previously have had no involvement in the sport, are now taking part in competitive cricket.
Tim Marks, Community Liaison Officer, said: “This is testament to the way that Cricket now can enthuse young people in a variety of different settings. Street20 Cricket is allowing kids in areas of social deprivation, where the sport is less accessible, to find a pathway in to the game.”
