Sussex Women announce squad to play Yorkshire
The Sussex Women take on Yorkshire at Brighton College this Sunday in their County Championship clash.
22nd July 2010
It has been a month since Sussex were last in County Championship action and they have some work to do as they are currently second in the table after losing their last match to Berkshire by six runs. The players have been playing regular club cricket over the last month, while Sarah Taylor, Laura Marsh and Holly Colvin have all represented England in the ODI series win against New Zealand.
Yorkshire were promoted to Division One at the end of last season after winning all of their matches in the second tier to win the league. England’s fastest bowler Katherine Brunt will be in their squad but Sussex know what she can do as she spent two seasons in 2008 & 2009 playing club cricket for Brighton & Hove.
Sussex's Charlotte Burton said, “ Yorkshire are not to be underestimated. They have built up a strong, young side over the past three years to be back in the top division. It should be an entertaining match and all the players are looking forward to getting back playing for the County, hopefully with a victory. “
The Sussex Women will have to face Yorkshire twice over the next two weeks as on Sunday 1st August they will travel to Barnsley to play them again in the Championship.
The match this Sunday will be played at Brighton College at 11am, entry is free.
