Sussex happy to have the Hove edge
Coach Mark Robinson believes home advantage could prove crucial to Sussex’s chances of reaching finals day of the Twenty20 Cup for the second time in three years.
The Sharks sealed a quarter-final clash with Warwickshire at Hove after beating Middlesex by six wickets at Lord’s yesterday.
It was their sixth consecutive victory in the competition and although Kent’s win over Surrey denied them top spot in the south division it was good enough for them to claim the best runners-up spot from the three groups.
That means Warwickshire will have to come to Hove rather than Sussex facing a difficult trip to Edgbaston at the end of July.
Robinson said: “‘It is brilliant to get to the quarter-finals again and to be rewarded with a home tie is a real advantage.
“‘We have a good record in the competition at Hove and playing at home definitely gives us an edge.
“‘We know the wicket and will have the crowd behind us but Warwickshire will still be a tough game.
