Sussex lose grip on t20 title
Holders Sussex lost their grip on the FPt20 title tonight when they were beaten by 13 runs in their quarter-final against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
27th July 2010
The Sharks appeared to have done the hard work by restricting Notts to 141-8 after Mike Yardy had won the toss.
But Sussex's run chase never gathered sufficient momentum.
Murray Goodwin top-scored withv 28 despite being dropped twice and Chris Nash made 22 but apart from a brief cameo by Andrew Hodd (17) they struggled to cope with a disciplined attack on a slow pitch offering some seam movement and turn as well.
Sussex had earlier exploited the conditions well. Yasir Arafat took 4-34 including two wickets in an over and their three spinners took a combined 3-61 from ten overs with Yardy, who did not concede a boundary, leading the way with 2-22.
