SCCC today announced their squad ahead of Sunday’s Friends Provident Trophy Semi-Final against Gloucestershire Gladiators at The County Ground, Hove.
The Sharks are just one match away from another Lord’s final and memories of 2006’s remarkable win against Lancashire are still fresh in the memory. A fired-up and quality Sussex side prepare to take on Gloucestershire in front of a busy County Ground on Sunday.
Sussex beat a strong Somerset side in the quarter-finals in May by six wickets, with Sussex stalwart Murray Goodwin scoring a magnificent 93 to see the Sharks in to the semi-final round.
James Kirtley, the hero of Sussex’s last Lord’s final, said: “Gloucestershire are a fine side and they have some key players. We’ve had a wonderful opportunity in being able to prepare for a few days for this, which is a luxury when looking at the busy county cricket schedule. There’s a huge carrot at the end of it if we win.”
There are full interviews with James Kirtley, Mike Yardy and Mark Robinson at www.sussexcricket.co.uk as the Club looks ahead to arguably the biggest game of the year so far.
There are still tickets available for Sunday’s match, which can be purchased via the website (www.sussexcricket.co.uk), over the phone (0844 264 0202) or on the gate on the day of the match.
The squad is as follows; Yasir Arafat, WAT Beer, JS Gatting, MW Goodwin, RJ Hamilton-Brown, AJ Hodd, CD Hopkinson, EC Joyce, RJ Kirtley, RSC Martin-Jenkins, CD Nash, DR Smith, LJ Wright and MH Yardy (c).
Sussex this week had their Twenty20 Cup quarter-final fixture confirmed, which will take place at The County Ground, Hove on Monday 27th July at 7.10pm against Warwickshire Bears. Supporters that attend Sunday’s match will be able to purchase their quarter-final tickets before they go on general sale via the website (www.sussexcricket.co.uk) at midnight on Sunday night and over the phone (0844 264 0202) and Club Shop at 9am on Monday morning.
