RDF main sponsors for Sussex!
Sussex County Cricket Club announces RDF Group as sponsor in three year deal
Sussex County Cricket Club has announced the biggest sponsorship deal in the Club’s history that sees IT service company, RDF Group (RDF), appointed as the Club’s main sponsor for the next three years.
For the first time, Sussex has secured a sponsor for the entire Club including the Sussex Cricket Academy, Youth, Women’s and the Visually Impaired squads as well as the double-winning First Team.
Club Chief Executive, Gus Mackay said, “With such an outstanding year behind us, we had several companies express serious interest in sponsoring Sussex for the next few years. However, the board looked at each potential sponsor very closely and we are delighted to announce RDF Group as our main sponsor.”
Mackay continued, “As well as being a successful and well established local company, which was important to us, RDF have been tremendous long-term supporters of the Club. They have actively supported and sponsored our indoor school and Academy and the Youth, Women’s and Visually Impaired squads for the past three years, facilitating the Club to go further with our support for young players in Sussex than ever before. This support has enabled us to continue to develop superb young players, many of whom will make their debut for Sussex in the next few years making RDF’s sponsorship of the entire Club very special. We are delighted to have RDF on board, as they are part of the family already. RDF is more than just a sponsor - they really care about the Club and grass roots cricket.”
The total value of the deal has not been disclosed but it is said to be the most significant sponsorship deal ever negotiated by the Club. There is no doubt that the announcement is popular with both the players and the public as the RDF deal includes school based roadshows and the funding of community coaching and other initiatives for grass roots cricket in Sussex.
Chief Executive of RDF, David Wood said, “RDF is delighted to have been given the opportunity to support Sussex County Cricket Club as main sponsor. Although we have supported the Academy, Youth, Visually Impaired and Women’s sections for the past three years, we see this as something of a coup. To be selected by the county champions and double winners as their main sponsor for the next three years is a proud day in our company’s development. RDF is committed to cricket in Sussex at all levels and we look forward to increasing our links with the local business community. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to sponsor the Club from top to bottom.”
The new SCCC shirts also went on display for the first time, with the Chief Executives of SCCC and RDF, Gus Mackay and David Wood respectively, unveiling the shirts. The shirts have striking designs with the new RDF logo on the front, both collars and across the shoulders.
RDF Group’s main sponsorship of SCCC begins with immediate effect and runs through until the end of the 2009 season. David Wood concluded, “Supporting cricket at all levels within Sussex is something RDF is very pleased to be associated with. The players and staff are a credit to their Club and the community. Cricket gives tremendous pleasure to many different people on many different levels and is a great environment for developing business links. We are delighted to be able to play a part in Sussex’s tremendous success.”
